USD 259 School Board Meeting — Public Hearing on Consolidation

The USD 259 Board of Education will hold a formal public hearing on the proposed consolidation of Mueller Elementary and Jardine Elementary schools. Both written and oral public comments will be accepted at the meeting, giving community members an opportunity to directly address the board on one of the most consequential proposals in recent district history.

The consolidation proposal cites enrollment declines of 35% over the past decade at both schools. Board members will hear from the district's facilities committee, which has studied the proposal and prepared options for consideration, as well as from affected families, neighborhood groups, teachers, and other community stakeholders.

Childcare will be provided on-site for attendees with young children. The meeting will also be livestreamed on the USD 259 YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person. Written comments may be submitted in advance through the USD 259 website. This is a public hearing — all Wichita residents are welcome and encouraged to participate.
